Book Clubs: Reading for Fun | OER Commons - 0 views

  •
We have parents who want to run book clubs during lunch hours. Many times they are not organized and there is not much reading that takes place. This would provide a great overview for the book clubs, provide it with structure, and also give some tasks to be completed during the reading.

They will send everything for free that you will need to set up a coding club!  Did an aftershool coding club with help from local high school students.  Students loved it, and continued with the program after the club sessions ended.

This sounds like it could be an awesome after-school club.

PBS DESIGN SQUAD | WISELearn Resources - 0 views

  •
This site from NASA and Design Squad offers activities, videos, lesson plans, and guides for engaging kids in hands-on engineering activities. There are several guides for running 6-week or 12-week clubs or after school events. I am always on the lookout for activities that promote design thinking that I can use for a maker event or as a creative warm-up for one of my clubs. Lots of good ideas here!

Maker Camp: for Kids who Explore + Make + Share - 0 views

  •
Maker Camp is online all summer and year-round. It happens everywhere around the world, so you can meet any of your neighbors taking part in Maker Camp, too! I could see organizing a summer learning group through a school, similar to a club. The trick is, that many of the maker resources are assumed at home already, so that may create a challenge.

Sick Around The World | FRONTLINE | PBS - 1 views

This is a resource that would be excellent for a health science, social studies, history, or sociology class. It could also be helpful for a debate club or something similar. It provides resources (handouts, videos, graphs) to be used by students and teachers to examine universal healthcare around the world. PBS also offers lots of other topics that could be used at all different age levels.

Engage Kids in Hands-on Engineering Use DESIGN SQUAD GLOBAL hands-on activities and videos in classrooms and afterschool programs, in libraries and museums, at events and at home, along with our newest resource DESIGN SQUAD GLOBAL CLUBS that connect 10- to 13-year-olds in out-of-school programs around the world. I would use it in conjunction with the City X resource above..
