A site devoted to food allergies can be a valuable resource for a classroom teacher. You should expect to encounter students with severe allergies under your care. This site gives reliable information and advice to keep students safe. It is much better to be prepared and never need to respond than be caught off guard. Anaphylactic reactions sometimes occur within a few minutes of exposure and require immediate treatment. The site covers a variety of food allergies

National Geographic has put together an interactive site that manages to convey both the tone and a great deal of information about slavery and the Underground Railroad. Students can enter and make choices about which paths they wish to follow along the Railroad. The site is visually creative and engaging.

This website developed by Matt Buchanan focuses on concrete applications of drama/acting in an educational context. Among many items, Mr. Buchanan offers lesson plans, plays for specific grade levels, and some good insights into grading criteria in an arts curriculum. He suggests that students select specific areas they wish to improve upon when working in the arts, and then be evaluated based on their progress in self selected areas. Mr. Buchanan's professional background is in set and lighting design.

Pacific Northwest Ballet offers a variety of educational dance experiences to the local community. In addition to the more traditional field trips, they also collaborate with local schools to offer dance curriculum in the schools, with artist/dancers in residence and opportunities for student developed performances on the PNB stage. This might provide for an unusual and exciting field trip!

This website page offers a great idea: the inclusion of "prop" bag in the classroom to serve improvisation and theatre games. The suggestions for the bag are very resourceful and suggest all sorts of applications for creativity. This is a really good resource!

This is an awesome reference for multi cultural children's books. We all want to be inclusive and respectful of the cultures and races we encounter in our classroom. This blog site can provide a filter to sift through the enormous amount of material available and steer you to the best of children's literature. Emphasis is on the Eastern hemisphere.
