Astaweb.com is the American String Teachers Association website. It is run out of Fairfax, VA. Their email address is listed at the bottom of the site. They link to many resources, i.e. how to get great recruitment posters, information about competitions, string teacher jobs or a place to post a job. It looks as if they update it regularly. this site can be used to learn about the various Native American tribes in the world.

Through Multicultural Pavilion http://www.edchange.org/multicultural/ I was able to find "African Heritage in Classical Music" http:/www.africlassical.com. It looks like a good website where orchestra students could do research on composers other than white male Europeans, specifically African American composers

This is a website where you can click on several "ologies" (sociology, anthropology, etc) and learn about lots and lots of things that fall in that category. Very interactive and great graphics!

This site is a great resource for students and teachers for educational sites for all grade levels and subject areas.

Web site with information about and access to books by American Indian authors. Great resource when wanting to add multicultural literature to your classroom library.

Lesson plans for a unit on how diverse cultures are portrayed in film, fiction and non-fiction. Allows students to think critically about the portrayal of groups and how it leads to stereotyping, racism and prejudice.

The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) highlights civil liberty issues and how they affect young people today. The site gives true life, current examples of cases being heard (or just heard) by the Supreme Court of the United States. Great website for 8-12 grade.
