    Because Cetewayo, the Zulu king refused to comply with orders from mayor-general H.Clifford he returned his cattle and ordered his soldiers to keep watch of the Zulu troops and monitor their moves. When the Zulu troops moved and dispersed across all sides Clifford also prepared for war. The war started and Zulu troops were defeated after 30 minutes with a thousand of their ten thousand men killed, but the war was from over.
