Sometimes the classroom needs an extra attention-getter. With Skype, there's a way for teachers to open conversations with several people--including experts, so I of course support this idea. Teachers can use this to interact with other classrooms around the state, around the country, or even around the world.

Why? How?

We used this in the classroom, but I think that it allows you to use Skype to locate different guest speakers around the world. I would use this if someone from the area couldn't make it in to talk to my class or if I wanted to get someone from miles away to speak in my class.

This website allows students to write drafts and share them with their peers to gain feedback. I would use this in class if I had group work and they didn't want to communicate through email, but they still wanted to know what each other were doing for the project.

You will find tons of lesson plans for all types of subjects here. We have templates and great advice for teachers of all subjects. If you were struggling creating lesson plans then you could use this website for finding new lesson plan ideas.

This website gives you educational games that your students can use in the classroom. I would use this if a student was struggling or just a fun thing to do in class.

This website gives you different teaching materials and teaching content to teach your students history.

iCivics is a web-based education project designed to teach students civics and inspire them to be active participants in our democracy. I would use this website to generate different lesson plans to keep the class interesting.

Another reading site that allows your students to play different games to improve their reading. It has grade levels from pre k all the way up to fifth grade

You could use this for children that are having a hard time reading certain stories because they have audio books

This article tells you how to create a PLN. It also provides you with resources you can utilize. This would be a great article to read to get your information to start your own PLN.

This website is nice because along with telling you places you can use for collaboration, it also shows the steps of how to use the sites. This is nice because sometimes that can be the reason why people are scared to use sites they are not familiar with.

Pinterest is a great site to help create lesson plans. It offers lessons plans for all grade levels and all subjects. I will utilize pinterest when I am stumped on creating a fun and engaging lesson plan.

This site has free educational games for kids! It includes many games for kids that are the perfect combination of learning and fun! I could use this as a quiet time center, or a free time activity.

I decided to use this as my Web 2.0 site. I wish I would have found this site earlier on my search. This site is amazing at the amount of subjects and just cool stuff to look at. If I was to do a Math lesson, then there are some fun games for that. There are also: english, science, puzzles, kid stories, arts and crafts, videos, and even experiements. I especially like this site due to the fact that it has a math section.
