    This company makes some fantastic apps for learning phonemic awareness and phonics. All of the ABCMagic apps are perfect for any child learning letter names and sounds, and learning beginning sounds. Most are free apps, and well worth the time to download and explore.

Update: I recently met Cheryl Bregman, creator of the app, and learned that you can make several customizable keyboards for things like practicing typing names, and can swipe between keyboards, making it possible to add multiple keyboards for one document.
