But that's like saying the Beatles were over after they appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show." Twittermania has only begun. In the days after Oprah's show, Twitter's traffic growth is accelerating. The ratings service HitWise now ranks twitter.com as America's No. 38 Web site. It's about to rocket past CNN and Wells Fargo.

'The Physical Internet' as a buzz phrase has been thrown about a fair bit recently and only really recently have I seen things start to get interesting. I really like the idea of making the internet tangible and a flipside to this is taking a real world interaction and broadcasting this onto the net. A few things have made this much more attainable -> 1) Twitter and other systems have opened up to let other systems interact through them via an API to send/retrieve data. 2) Electronics such as arduino or ioBridge have made the geeky electronics bit much easier. 3) Programming interfaces such as Processing or Openframeworks have made the geeky programming bit much easier. Here is a little recap of some interesting/useful/useless/fun interfaces.

If you are a teacher on twitter, you can "join" this group - which means nothing except your name is added to a list. I like this b/c it helps teachers find other teachers. Wish it let you put a little info but you can look at the twitter id's - I like that it is automated even the excessive ads are a little bothersome, I can live with that -- share your id or make another group.

Twitter is a lot like a dinner with a large group of friends at a big table in a busy restaurant. Everyone is chatting, there's a lot being said, and if you're not focused on a particular conversation, it sounds downright noisy. So just like a large group setting in real life, there are some conventions about how people tune in to listen and the most effective ways to be sociable.
