CHOICE HOTELS INTERNATIONAL has completed its acquisition of Radisson Hotels Americas for $675 million. The transaction includes Radisson's franchise business, operations and intellectual property. The merger, which was announced in June, will add Radisson's nine brands to Choice, bringing it to 624 hotels. "With the close of this transaction, Choice Hotels International has added approximately 67,000 rooms, expanding its presence in the higher revenue upper upscale and upscale full-service segments, and bolstering its core upper-midscale hospitality segment, particularly in the West Coast and Midwest of the U.S.," the company said in a statement. As part of the transaction, which covers properties in Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean as well as the U.S., Choice will independently own and control the brands in the Americas and will work with Radisson to drive the growth, continuity and success of the brands, according to a joint press release from the companies. Choice's board of directors unanimously approved the transaction, and it was expected to close in the second half of 2022. It was funded by cash on hand and revolver borrowings and includes 10 Radisson Blu hotels, 130 Radisson hotels, 9 Radisson Individuals, 1 Park Plaza hotel, 4 Radisson RED hotels, 453 Country Inn & Suites by Radisson and 17 Park Inn by Radisson hotels, as well as the recently launched Radisson Inn & Suites and Radisson Collection brands.

REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT firm Hersha Hospitality Trust will sell seven of its select service properties outside New York for $505 million, or approximately $360,000 per key, according to a statement. Proceeds will go to cover some of the company's debt and provide liquidity. The properties in the deal are the Hotel Courtyard Brookline, Hampton Inn - Philadelphia, Hilton Garden Inn M Street, Hampton Inn - Washington, Courtyard Sunnyvale, Courtyard Los Angeles Westside and TownePlace Suites Sunnyvale. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2022 subject to customary closing conditions, the statement added. The revenue from the sale reduce debt of approximately $460 to $480 million, and around $390 to $410 million of Hersha's corporate debt. PEACHTREE HOTEL GROUP added seven hotels to its portfolio this week for $135 million. Three of the hotels also are part of Peachtree's third investment partnerships with San Mateo, California-based Verakin Capital led by partners Rupesh and Bimal Patel and Hiten Suraj. The new acquisitions include 829 rooms and are in five different states, according to Peachtree and its management division Peachtree Hospitality Management, which will operate all seven hotels. The new hotels are: The dual-brand Hilton Garden Inn Phoenix Tempe, University Research Park, 120 rooms, and Home2 Suites by Hilton Phoenix Tempe, University Research Park, 108 rooms, in Tempe, Arizona, which were built in 2017. Home2 Suites by Hilton Eugene Downtown University Area, in Eugene, Oregon, 120 rooms, built in 2016. Home2 Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh/McCandless in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 119 rooms, built in 2013. Hilton Garden Inn West Lafayette Wabash Landing in West Lafayette, Indiana, 104 rooms, built in 2003.

OFFICIALS OF THE "She Has a Deal" annual hotel investment pitch contest announced the five teams selected to advance to the final round of SHaDPitch 2023. The competition allows early career women to compete for the prize of $50,000 of equity in SHaD's Prosperity Fund I, following the conclusion of a virtual, preliminary round of pitching, SHaD said in a statement. SHaD 2023 will be held at the new Marriott Headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, on April 27 to 28. The Holiday Inn & Suites Atlanta Perimeter-Dunwoody opened March 24 with a ribbon cutting in Chamblee, Georgia. It is owned by Atlanta Hospitality Investment LLC, led by Mohammad Hossain as managing member, and operated by YM Hospitality led by Jay Patel as chairman and Nick Patel as CEO in Stockbridge, Georgia. A key feature of the 143-room hotel is its rooftop bar and restaurant, Spice & Sky, with a globally inspired menu from Atlanta chef, Archna Becker. The space is designed for year-round dining both inside and out, however. About 15 minutes from downtown Atlanta, nearby attractions include Murphey Candler Park, Perimeter Mall, Stone Mountain Park and LEGOLAND Discovery Center. Amenities include a heated indoor pool, a fitness center and 4,500 square feet of event space.

RUDRA MANAGEMENT, LED by Jayesh Patel, recently acquired an old Red Carpet Inn in Tonawanda, New York, with plans to reposition it as an independent hotel. Those plans depend, to some extent, on reopening the nearby Canada-U.S. border, but Patel said the delay on that reopening is better than risking a resurgence in the COVID-19 pandemic. Patel, whose Cheektowaga, New York, company already owns more than 50 hotels, acquired the hotel for $1.125 million through Gurusaheb LLC from Haripriya Inc., according to local media. Milan Patel, also with Rudra Management, helped arrange the deal. "This has been a troubled property for probably the past year, year and a half," Jayesh Patel said. "That's how I come across that there was somebody wanting to get rid of it and I had an appetite to purchase it."

The Hampton Inn by Hilton Blue Ridge in Blue Ridge, Georgia, is now open. It is owned by Vision Hospitality Group led by Mitch Patel as president and CEO. The 109-room hotel is in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near local breweries, wineries, eateries and specialty retail shops in the town's Historic District. NOBLE INVESTMENT GROUP in Atlanta has acquired the Hilton Garden Inn Boise Downtown. The transaction caps more than $1 billion investment over the past year, according to a statement. The 132-room hotel is near the city's leisure and business centers, which includes the Idaho State Capitol, Boise State University, Jack's Urban Meeting Place, Idaho Central Arena, and the Boise Centre, according to Noble, which is led by Mit Shah as CEO. Hotel amenities include an indoor pool, 4,098 square feet of meeting space and it is pet friendly. "The Boise market demonstrates the key macro trends we are looking for in cities which we believe will outperform as we enter a new lodging cycle," said Dustin Fisher, Noble's senior vice president. "This acquisition aligns with our strategy to acquire high-quality, well-located assets in growth markets poised to benefit from the ongoing recovery in travel."

NEXGEN HOTELS RECENTLY acquired Holiday Inn St. Petersburg West in St. Petersburg, Florida. The 129-room hotel will be managed by St Louis-based Genuine Hospitality Group. The property, which is located minutes away from downtown St. Petersburg, is close to Tropicana Field, the Dali Museum, Morean Arts Center, Duke Energy Center for the Arts - Mahaffey Theater, and Al Lang Stadium, NexGen said in a statement. The hotel is also near the University of South Florida - St. Petersburg Campus, St. Petersburg College and Stetson University. "We are excited to expand our portfolio and enter the St. Petersburg area," says Chris Patel, president of Itasca, Illinois-based NexGen. "This acquisition provides NexGen Hotels with an excellent opportunity to establish a significant presence in the robust St. Petersburg hotel market."

The Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Tampa Riverview is now open in Riverview, Florida. It is owned by Riverview Hotels & Resorts LLC led by manager Singh Japinder and managed by Naples Hotel Group of Naples, Florida. The 108-room hotel is near James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital, Topgolf and Bass Pro Shops. Hotel amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center and 512 square feet of meeting space to accommodate functions of up to 40 people. ATLANTA-BASED HOSPITALITY Lodging Systems has added two Budgetel Inn & Suites and two Haven Hotel properties to its portfolio, according to HLS. Currently, there are 37 Budgetel hotels with 3,813 rooms operating in 10 states plus China and 12 Haven Hotels with 698 rooms in nine states. Both the Budgetel hotels are in metro Atlanta, a 218-room conversion former Clarion, located on the north side of the city and a 121-room property in suburban Lilburn. The new Haven Hotels are 50-all suites, boutique property in the Atlanta suburb of Marietta and a 130-room property in Hazelwood, Missouri, a statement said. "Our brands are attracting owners who want to lower costs and boost profits, especially as our industry struggles to recover from two years of pandemic slowdown," said Doug Collins, chairman and CEO of HLS. "Among the most popular features of our contract are unlimited free online reservations, fewer mandated amenities, and an annual exit opportunity."

The Best Western Plus Heritage Rail Inn & Suites is now open in York, Pennsylvania. The hotel, owned by Sagar Shah and his family, recently completed a $3 million renovation. It features 73 rooms and 55 suites, along with amenities such as retro games, a fitness center, a yoga and wellness room, a business center and a meeting room, Best Western said in a statement.
