PEACHTREE GROUP LAUNCHED its fifth hotel property structured as a Delaware Statutory Trust with the acquisition of the 128-key Residence Inn Tampa Wesley Chapel in Wesley Chapel, Florida. This follows the purchase of its Home2 Suites by Hilton Atlanta Sugarloaf DST in August. Peachtree's DST acquisitions allow 1031 exchange investors to reinvest proceeds from the sale of appreciated real estate, defer taxes and maintain exposure to the growing hotel sector. "The hotel's prime location in the Wiregrass Ranch master-planned community, combined with its proximity to the Wiregrass Ranch Sports Campus, makes it a valuable addition to our growing portfolio of DST properties," said Tim Witt, Peachtree's president of 1031 exchange and DST products. "With activities and tournaments at the 98,000-square-foot sports complex boosting weekend business for the hotel and Pasco County's investment in expanding the facility, we anticipate strong demand from both leisure and business travelers. Further supporting our off-market acquisition is the fact that it was recently appraised for nearly $900,000 above our purchase price."

CHOICE HOTELS INTERNATIONAL is working with Westgate Resorts to make 21 properties bookable on choicehotels.com, with reservations available using Choice Privileges points. The hotels will join Choice's upscale portfolio, including Radisson, Cambria and Ascend Hotel Collection. Westgate amenities include Treasure Cove Water Park at Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa in Orlando, horseback rides at Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo in River Ranch, Florida, and ski-in, ski-out access at Westgate Park City Resort & Spa in Park City, Utah, the companies said in a joint statement. "We're excited to collaborate with Westgate Resorts, offering travelers and more than 68 million Choice Privileges members a broad range of hotel options," said Noha Abdalla, Choice's chief marketing officer. "The addition of these properties strengthens our commitment to diverse travel experiences, while providing members more ways to use their points and maximize rewards."

WAYSIDE INVESTMENT GROUP of Houston, Texas, will manage the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Katy, Texas, in collaboration with Southwest Hospitality Management. The hotel will undergo a complete Formula Blue multimillion-dollar renovation. Wayside, led by Miraj Patel as president, has added three hotels this year to its purchasing, development and management services. The 98-room Holiday Inn is near the Golf Club at Cinco Ranch, TopGolf Houston, Katy Mills Mall and CityCentre. "The addition of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Katy demonstrates our focused growth in our local Houston-area market and provides us the opportunity to launch our collaboration with Southwest Hospitality Management, which will provide our companies the resources to grow our footprint," Patel said.

The SureStay Hotel by Best Western Floresville is now open in Floresville, Texas. It is owned by Niraj Patel. The 42-room hotel is near Cycle Ranch motocross venue and the Floresville Event Center. Also nearby are The Alamo, San Antonio River Walk, Sea World San Antonio and Six Flags Fiesta Texas, along with Marathon Oil Company, Holland Energy, Cajun Well Services Inc., Schoeffler Energy Group Inc. and Key Energy Services. Amenities include an outdoor pool and a pavilion with barbeque pits and picnic microwaves and mini-fridges.

Phil Norman is executive vice-president of people resources and development for third-party hospitality management company Twenty Four Seven Hotels. Previously, he was chief human resources officer with Canyon Ranch where he operated human resources functions for 1,840 U.S. employees across hotels and cruise ships. Norman will provide oversight for talent management, including leadership development, organizational capability and change management in this newly created role, the company said. He also held similar positions as human resources director at the Homestead, America's oldest resort property dating to 1766, and the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa, where he oversaw 1,250 team members, while ensuring safety and building an inclusive environment. "With 35 years of hospitality human resources experience, Phil is the ideal candidate to take over our people resources and development team as well as provide immediate support to our on-property teams," said David Wani, CEO for Twenty Four Seven Hotels. "His performance at both the hotel and corporate levels has been amazing, creating workplaces where every associate is gratified by their work and where they feel they belong. The SpringHill Suites by Marriott San Diego Carlsbad is now open in Carlsbad, California. It is owned and managed by DKN Hotels of Irvine, California, led by Kiran Dahya as CEO. The 104-suite hotel in Carlsbad Village outside San Diego is near Carlsbad State Beach, U.S. Marine Corps's Camp Pendleton, LEGOLAND California, The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch, The Crossings at Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Premium Outlets. Amenities include a rooftop lounge, outdoor swimming pool and two meeting rooms with a combined 1,156 square-feet of space. DKN Hotels was founded in 1984 by the Dahya family. Its portfolio of owned and third-party managed Hilton, Marriott, IHG, and independent properties throughout the greater Southern California area.

The TownePlace Suites by Marriott Amarillo West/Medical Center is scheduled to open in Amarillo, Texas, on July 30. It is owned and managed by Ram Hotels led by Kush Nathu, operations manager. The 104-suite hotel is six miles from downtown and 15 miles from Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport. Nearby attractions include Cadillac Ranch, Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Don Harrington Discovery Center, Northwest Medical Center and Baptist St. Anthony Hospital. Hotel amenities include an indoor swimming pool and hot tub, a fitness center and 1,800 square feet of meeting space.
