Trump backs H-1B visa program - 0 views

  •
PRESIDENT-ELECT DONALD TRUMP joined billionaire Tesla founder Elon Musk in supporting the H-1B visa program despite opposition from some of Trump's base. Meanwhile, hotel associations, including AAHOA and the American Hotel & Lodging Association are pushing to replace the 66,000 annual cap on H-2B visas with a needs-based system. Trump, who restricted H-1B visas during his first term, told The New York Post that he now supports the program. "I have many H-1B visas on my properties. I've been a believer in H-1B. I have used it many times. It's a great program," he said. Despite his statement, Trump has rarely utilized the H-1B program, which allows skilled workers, such as engineers, to work in the U.S. for up to six years. Instead, his companies have frequently relied on the H-2B visa program for unskilled workers, such as gardeners and housekeepers, and the H-2A program for agricultural workers. These visas allow stays of up to 10 months.

Study: Loyalty programs fall short of customer expectations - 0 views

  •
U.S. TRAVEL COMPANIES intensified their focus on loyalty programs during the post-COVID recovery to capitalize on industry momentum, despite frequent traveler dissatisfaction, according to a Morning Consult study. While increased personalization and expanded perks have been well-received, many travelers find the programs more complicated and less rewarding. Morning Consult's report, "What Travelers Actually Want from Loyalty Programs," found that U.S. travel loyalty program membership remained steady from 2021 to 2024. Millennials and high earners are the most frequent members, but no demographic group has shown significant growth. The study, conducted with 4,450 U.S. adults on Oct. 10 to 11, alongside monthly surveys from October 2021 to March 2024 with about 2,200 adults each, revealed one key finding: loyalty program members are more likely to stay at hotels or fly with airlines where they hold memberships, compared to choosing other providers.

  •
MARCH IS WOMEN'S History Month, a time to focus attention on women's role in business and society. It also is the second month for Wyndham Hotels & Resorts' new "Women Own the Room" program that aims to open the door for more women to achieve hotel ownership. Two of the first participants in the program are Trusha Patel, founder and CEO of Platinum Holdings in Austin, Texas, and Neha Jadhav of Chantilly, Virginia, founder of Luminous Hotel Management. Both women are opening dual-brand La Quinta and Hawthorn Suites hotels with assistance from WOTR assistance. Correcting an imbalance Wyndham launched WOTR in January in an effort to overcome the common barriers women face in developing, opening and running their own hotel. The program provides assistance with financial solutions, personalized operational support and networking and educational opportunities. Programs such as WOTR are needed to counter hospitality industry data that shows women are significantly underrepresented in hotel ownership, real estate, and investment funding roles, Wyndham said in a press release. The company cited the most recent annual report from the Castell Project, a nonprofit focused on promoting women in the industry, that found that while there are more women in the hospitality industry they still lag behind in leadership roles.
