RUDRA MANAGEMENT, LED by Jayesh Patel, recently acquired an old Red Carpet Inn in Tonawanda, New York, with plans to reposition it as an independent hotel. Those plans depend, to some extent, on reopening the nearby Canada-U.S. border, but Patel said the delay on that reopening is better than risking a resurgence in the COVID-19 pandemic. Patel, whose Cheektowaga, New York, company already owns more than 50 hotels, acquired the hotel for $1.125 million through Gurusaheb LLC from Haripriya Inc., according to local media. Milan Patel, also with Rudra Management, helped arrange the deal. "This has been a troubled property for probably the past year, year and a half," Jayesh Patel said. "That's how I come across that there was somebody wanting to get rid of it and I had an appetite to purchase it."

Red Roof PLUS+ Galveston Beachfront is now open in Galveston, Texas. The beachside hotel, a former Travelodge by Wyndham, recently underwent a $1.1 million renovation. Wayside Investment Group, led by President Miraj Patel, owns the 66-room hotel. Nearby attractions include Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier, The Spot restaurant, Galveston Beach, Schlitterbahn Waterpark Galveston and Moody Gardens. Amenities include a swimming pool. The COVID-19 pandemic took its toll on the hotel's opening as Galveston Island temporarily shut down.

UNITY WAS THE theme at Sonesta International Hotels' inaugural conference in Las Vegas. Sonesta essentially completed its integration with Red Lion Hotels Corp. with the announcement of a unified loyalty program, Sonesta Travel Pass, and combined website. Approximately 1,300 attendees, including franchisees, general managers of Sonesta's corporate owned properties and employees, came to the conference and trade show at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas. Most authorities now recognize two species of slender loris: Loris tardigradus (with 2 subspecies, both occurring in Sri Lanka) and Loris lydekkerianus (with 4 subspecies, occurring in both India and Sri Lanka). The name slender loris derived from its slender arms and legs. L. tardigradus is smaller than its relative the grey slender loris (L. lydekkerianus). Its small face is dominated by huge round eyes and prominent ears, which are thin, rounded and hairless at the edges. The soft dense fur is a grey or reddish-brown color on the back, depending on the subspecies. The underside is whitish-grey. The species has no tail. The highland slender loris (L. t. nycticeboides) has shorter, thicker limbs relative to body length, a larger head, and thicker fur which completely cover the ears.
