U.S. markets with the most projects already under construction by the end of the first quarter include New York with 47 projects and 7,655 rooms, Dallas with 25 projects and 3,059 rooms, and Nashville with 22 projects and 2,828 rooms. Atlanta had 21 projects and 2,588 rooms, and the Inland Empire currently has 20 projects and 2,181 rooms under construction.

NEWCRESTIMAGE IS EXPANDING its portfolio of luxury full-service properties with the addition of The Beeman Hotel in Dallas, which has 296 guestrooms and suites across nine floors. Coury Hospitality will manage the property, NewcrestImage said in a statement. NewcrestImage is led by Mehul Patel, managing partner and CEO. The Beeman Hotel, fully renovated in 2021, features a heated indoor pool, a 24-hour fitness center, 12,000 square feet of flexible conference space, a lounge with video games, and the Seely Mill restaurant, the statement said. The property is adjacent to Southern Methodist University (SMU) and the George W. Bush Presidential Library, and is less than six miles from the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, the 20,000-seat American Airlines Center, Love Field and NorthPark Center. "The Beeman is a very high-quality property that offers tremendous upside potential to help drive our ambitious growth goals," said Patel. "To further and fully optimize this hotel's value and profits, we intend to rebrand in the high-end upscale category."

New York City with 78 projects with 13,063 rooms, Atlanta with 25 projects containing 3,905 rooms, Dallas with 25 projects with 3,725 rooms, Phoenix with 23 projects with 4,955 rooms and Los Angeles with 22 projects with 3,606 rooms are the top five markets with the most projects under construction during the end of June. They account for 22 percent of rooms under construction in the U.S.

Amenities at the hotel include a fitness center and an outdoor pool. "This extended-stay property is in the heart of a high-traffic corridor that's a popular destination for both corporate and leisure travelers," Patel said. The acquisition of the TownePlace Suites is important to Marriott, said Loren Nalewanski, the company's vice president franchising for the Element, Residence Inn, Fairfield, TownePlace and SpringHill Suites brands. "Our industry is built on strong partnerships between brands and owners," Nalewanski said. "This acquisition enhances the long, valued, and successful partnership between Marriott and NewcrestImage, which has owned and operated 30 Marriott-branded properties since 2013."

DALLAS-BASED INVESTMENT firm NewcrestImage became the second largest shareholder in TiffinLabs, a Singapore-based food tech company which operates food delivery-focused virtual restaurant brands, a statement said. Founded in 2020, TiffinLabs introduced numerous virtual brands across Singapore and Malaysia. It started U.S. expansion in Dallas in 2021 and now operates in Chicago, Detroit, Knoxville, and Charlotte. By 2023, it expects to have 1,000 digital storefronts globally and to be operating in 30 U.S. cities. "TiffinLabs offers hotels and restaurants a low cost, turn-key source of incremental revenue for post-pandemic recovery, while for us as investors, TiffinLabs represents a strategic opportunity for long-term growth," said Mital Patel, managing partner of NewcrestImage.
