OUR NCR on 21 Feb 17The National Zoological Park (originally Delhi Zoo) is a 176-acre zoo near the Old Fort in Delhi. The Zoo was set up in the year 1959. It was built after the Indian Board for Wildlife felt the need of having a Zoo in the capital as recreational facility for the people. Earlier it was called Delhi Zoo. It was in 1982 that the park was given National status and came to be known as The National Zoological Park.
