Additionally, around 31 percent of respondents plan to up their hotel stays this summer versus the previous one. Around 35 percent of Americans anticipate an overnight business trip within the next four months, with 16 percent planning to boost their business-related travel this summer compared to last summer, the survey conducted by Morning Consult found. Meanwhile, hotels remain the preferred lodging option for both business travelers, with 60 percent, and leisure travelers, with 46 percent, this summer, the survey revealed. The survey presents a positive outlook for hoteliers amid ongoing economic challenges like a nationwide labor shortage and high interest rates, AHLA said. However, it indicates that persistent inflation remains a significant obstacle to growth for hoteliers and other travel-related businesses.

STR: U.S. Hotel Performance Up In First Week Of November - 0 views

    ALL THE PERFORMANCE metrics of U.S. hotels improved in the first week of November, according to STR. However, it remains below the performance reported two years ago. Occupancy was 59.8 percent for the week ending Nov. 6, up from 58.9 percent the week before and a 13 percent drop from the same period in 2019. ADR for the first week of the month was $128.14, up from $127.70 the week before and down 3.2 percent for the same period in 2019. RevPAR increased to $76.61 from $75.28 the week before. It was reduced by 15.8 percent when compared to the same period two years ago. During the week under review, none of STR's top 25 markets recorded an occupancy increase over 2019. Norfolk/Virginia Beach came closest to its 2019 comparable, down only 5.2 percent to 59.9 percent. The largest ADR increase was reported in Miami, up 13.6 percent to $205.56, when compared to two years ago.

Christmas Day occupancy was 47.2 percent, up from the previous high of 47 percent recorded in 2015. Occupancy was 44.3 percent for the week ended Dec. 25, down from 53.8 percent the week before, and down 8.7 percent when compared to 2019. ADR was $129.67 for the week, up from $121.87 the week before and an increase of 0.5 percent from 2019. RevPAR reached $57.46, down from $65.61 the week before, and dropped 8.3 percent from two years ago. According to STR, a steeper decline during the week from 2019 levels was due to the fact that Christmas fell on a Wednesday two years ago and allowed for an earlier return to non-holiday weekend levels that year. "While Omicron-related closures and service disruptions affected performance in New York City, overall U.S. occupancy was less impacted," STR said.

ADR for the third week of the month was $126.66, down from $129.98 the week before and increased 1.7 percent when compared to two years ago. RevPAR decreased to $75.60 for the third week of the month from $80.02 the week before, and a slight drop of 0.4 percent for the same period in 2019. Among STR's top 25 markets, Phoenix saw the largest occupancy increase during the week under review, up 6.4 percent to 76.6 percent over 2019. Miami reported the largest ADR increase when compared to 2019, 25.5 percent to $207.72. Oahu Island, Hawaii, experienced the steepest occupancy decline from 2019, down 35.2 percent to 51.8 percent.

GOPPAR was $83.81 for the month, the highest level for the metric since November 2019. It was less than $10 shy of reaching the pre-pandemic comparable from March 2019. In February GOPPAR stood at $58.88. EBITDA PAR was $62.68, TRevPAR was $204.84 and labor costs per room were $61.45. For the latter two it was their highest mark since March 2020.

    REFLECTING THE POSITIVE side of the Easter calendar shift, U.S. hotel performance during the second week of April increased from the previous week, according to STR. Year-over-year comparisons also were up. Occupancy was 64.2 percent for the week ending April 15, up from 61.3 percent the week before, and increased 3.7 percent than the comparable week in 2022. ADR stood at $155.33, up from $153.3 the week before, jumped 4.7 percent against 2022. RevPAR came in at $99.67, increased from $94 in the last week, and rose 8.6 percent over the same month in 2022. Among the top 25 markets, Minneapolis saw the highest year-over-year increase in occupancy, up 17.4 percent to 54.5 percent during the Easter week. Washington, D.C., reported the most substantial ADR, up 22.5 percent to $200.99, and RevPAR, increased 38.1 percent to $146.73 year-over-year.

One is a 61-room former Fairfield Inn in Grand Forks, North Dakota and the other is an 80-room former Super 8 in Aberdeen, North Carolina. The new additions bring the number of AmeriVu properties to 23 operating in nine states, according to HLS. The AmeriVu brand was started in 2015 by Nick Rai, CEO of Vishav Hotels, who signed a long-term exclusive licensing agreement with Atlanta-based HLS in 2016. "In today's uncertain economy and recovering hotel environment, hotel owners want lower costs, higher profits, and more peace of mind," said Doug Collins, Chairman and CEO of HLS. "Our brands effectively deliver dependable results."

CBRE revises 2022 forecast again after strong first quarter - 0 views

The research firm now expects a full recovery in ADR in 2022 and in demand and RevPAR in 2023. First quarter RevPAR reached $72.20, up 61 percent from year earlier, despite a surge from the COVID-19 omicron variant, according to CBRE. RevPAR growth was driven by a 39 percent increase in ADR and a 16 percent increase in occupancy. ADR was 5 percent ahead of 2019's levels, marking the third consecutive quarter in which levels exceed the same period in 2019. These rising rates demonstrate that travelers aren't price-sensitive in many peak-demand markets.

The company expects to close the transaction in early March. The six Motel 6 properties Dallas-based NewcrestImage will purchase are: Mesa North, 152 rooms Phoenix West, 148 rooms Phoenix Tempe, 131 rooms Scottsdale South, 100 rooms Mesa South, 91 rooms Phoenix Airport, 61 rooms The three Studio 6 properties being acquired are: Tempe, 151 rooms Phoenix Deer Valley, 142 rooms Tucson East, 121 rooms "Acquiring properties, along with developing new hotels, are our two primary investment strategies for achieving growth in 2022," said Mehul Patel, chairman and CEO of NewcrestImage. "We look forward to creating fresh opportunities for these nine Arizona hotels in keeping with our operating philosophy, abilities, and track record." Arizona is an attractive market because its hotel occupancy is robust and above the national average," Patel said.

ADR was $144.68 for the week, increased from $137.96 the week before and up7.7 percent from two years ago. RevPAR was $91.45 for the week, up from $84.39 the week before and down 2.8 percent from the same period two years ago. None of STR's top 25 markets showed an occupancy increase during the period when compared to two years ago. Miami came closest to its 2019 comparable, down 4.7 percent to 84.1 percent.

CBRE forecasts RevPAR to regain 2019 levels by 3rd quarter - 0 views

    A STRONGER THAN expected performance by U.S. hotels in the fourth quarter of 2021 led CBRE Hotels Research to upgrade its forecast for the rest of 2022. CBRE now forecasts RevPAR will reach 2019 nominal levels by the third quarter of this year, one year earlier than the previous forecast. Occupancy is expected to rise 6.7 percent to 61.3 percent this year, then rise 5.2 percent to 64.4 percent in 2023. ADR is forecast to rise 10.1 percent to $133.94 in 2022 and go up 6 percent more to $141.99 in 2023. CBRE expects RevPAR to rise 17.5 percent in 2022 overall to $82.04 and then rise 11.5 percent to $91.46 in 2023. Positive trends, such as high employment and the return to the office for many workers who had been working from home contributed to the revised forecast, CBRE said. Other factors contributing to the improvement include below-average supply growth, strong domestic leisure trends, the resumption of inbound international travel and a predicted return to office later this year. However, ongoing inflation and geopolitical tensions connected to the war in Ukraine still threaten progress.
