    What do we see from Mt. Everest?


    People have a dream to travel to different destinations in different countries. Different people have different choices. Some can love beaches, some love big cities, one can also love mountains. To those who really want some adventurous activity, they seek for a different destination, among which Nepal could be someones in bucket list to travel. Nepal is well known by the Land of Buddha and Mt. Everest, also by the "Land of Himalaya". Nepal is such a country which has multiple traveling destinations for a cultural tour, trekking, and many more.


    Many could have a dream to have a step over Mt. Everest and traveling to Nepal could be someones wish. In this topic, I will explain all about those doubts who have a curiosity about Mt. Everest. How, why, when to travel? 


    As the world knows about Mt. Everest as the highest peak of the world with 8850m of height. Many of the travelers already stepped there and many want to go over there. Everest is first ascent by Nepalese Tenzing Norgay and New Zealand's climber Edmund Hillary in May 29, 1953, and the history recorded. After successfully ascended by two of them, many other climbers get motivated to climb over there. Many of trekker lost their life during snowfall and by other natural disasters. People who have a problem of altitude sickness should never try this. Although the reward after getting into Everest is meritorious, the problems will also be uncountable. Daring and challengers can afford this trekking. But in spite of not having a trekking up to the peak of Everest, one can plan of trekking up to base camp. The height of Everest Base Camp is 5350m so many people can go there but not in peak. To be in Everest peak, one should get a long plan and only decide after fixing.     Now in this section, the simple itinerary of Everest Base Camp in 13 days can be like:



    • Day 1: Fly to Lukla (2,845m) & trek to Phakding

    • Day 2: Trek to Namche Bazar (3,440m)

    • Day 3: Acclimatization day/explore around Thamo or Synboche

    • Day 4: Trek to Tengboche (3,870m)

    • Day 5: Trek to Dingbuche (4,410m)

    • Day 6: Acclimatization day/ explore Chhukung Ri (5,100m)

    • Day 7: Trek to Lobuche (4,910m)

    • Day 8: Trek to Gorakshep (5,140m) and explore further to Everest Base camp (5364m) 

    • Day 9: Climb to Kala Patthar (5,550m) for sunrise & trek to Pheriche(4,240)

    • Day 10: Trek to Phortse (3,680m)

    • Day 11: Trek to Monjo (2,840m)

    • Day 12: Trek to Lukla (2,850m)

    • Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu

    Trekking at Everest Base Camp is really hard but rewarding. The world tallest peak will be in front of your eyes. The mountains will surround you from all directions.     Before you plan for the base camp trek, you have to research on many things, what are things that probably gonna need you in Everest trekking and ignore the unnecessary things which will also facilitate to have a lightweight bag. Here is the list of equipment that needs most for every people:



    • Light and expedition weight thermal tops

    • Fleece jacket or pullover

    • Fleece Wind-Stopper jacket (optional)

    • Waterproof shell jacket (preferably breathable fabric)

    • Lightweight thermal gloves

    • Underwear (4)

    • Shorts (2)

    • Lightweight cotton long trousers/pants

    • Light and expedition weight thermal bottoms

    • Sun hat or scarf

    • Warm fleece hat or light balaclava

    • T-shirts (2)

    • Thin, lightweight (inner socks) (4)

    • Sunglasses with UV protection

    • Sleeping bag rated to 0 degrees (3/4 season)

    • Headlamp (eg Petzl) spare bulbs & batteries

    • Small padlock to lock trek bag

    • Basic First Aid Kit (see First Aid Medicine below)

    • Plastic bags - for keeping items dry inside trek bag

    • Daypack (35-40 litres/2500-3000 cubic inches)

    • Camping mattress, eg Thermarest pad

    • Water bottles (2)

    • Toiletries

    • Small wash towel

    • Footwear appropriate to the trip

    • Waterproof shell trousers/pants (preferably breathable fabric)

    For the purpose to travel in Nepal, tourists have to take permits.


    Permit for Everest Base Camp Trek


    As long as trekkers refrain from climbing up mountains, one need to have permits to trek to Everest Base Camp. Basically, there are two permits you require for the Everest Base camp: 
    1. Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS  ard)
       - Essential Evidence
       - Copy of passport size photo(2)
       - Form with essential  minutiae

    2. Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit
       - Essential Evidence
       - Form with essential  minutiae

    TAAN (Tourism Agency Association of Nepal) is culpable to promulgate the essential TIMS card for Trekkers. You can find three distinct class of TIMS card and each card grant to the trekker. You may think there is the only variation in a card but also there is variation in cost and color. 
       - Organized TIMS Card (BLUE COLOR, USD 10)
       - Individual TIMS Card (GREEN COLOR USD 20)
       - SAARC Country TIMS Card (RED COLOR USD 3)

    If you are trekking over an agency then you need organized TIMS card and travel agency will provide you which is in Blue color. If you are trekking by yourself then you need to have individual TIMS card which is of Green color. And at last, if you are from SAARC country then you need SAARC TIMS card which is in Red color. All the permit TIMS can be collected from Thamel or  Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).
