Hieroglyphic Typewriter Egyptian Hieroglyphic Name Translator alphabet writer - 9 views

  •
Type Egyptian Hieroglyphs on a QWERTY keyboard then print or email the results The Hieroglyphic Typewriter incorporates the alphabet and number symbols together with a selection of determinative signs. It is designed as a fun entertainment app, so for ease of use the QWERTY keyboard includes close phonetic alternative glyphs for E, U V and X (which the Egyptians did not use). This allows you to quickly write names and short secret messages encoded in hieroglyphs then print them or send the results by email. The keys include Latin alphabet symbols together with their hieroglyph equivalents and descriptions, which allows you to type messages naturally and at a glance see the translations. The shift key changes the keyboard giving access to number glyphs, a selection of words and some determinative signs which you can include in your messages for fun and clarity.

Test your IPv6. - 8 views

  •
How this test works: Your browser will be instructed to reach a series of URLs. The combination of successes and failures tells a story about how ready you are for when publishers start offering their web sites on IPv6. Q: What is World IPv6 Day? This is a trial period where a number of major web sites will provide their content on both IPv4 and IPv6. This is being led by the Internet Society (ISOC). more information is posted on their World IPv6 Day page. World IPv6 day, scheduled for 8 June 2011, is a global-scale test flight of IPv6 sponsored by the Internet Society. On World IPv6 Day, major web companies and other industry players will come together to enable IPv6 on their main websites for 24 hours. The goal is to motivate organizations across the industry -- Internet service providers, hardware makers, operating system vendors and web companies -- to prepare their services for IPv6 to ensure a successful transition as IPv4 address space runs out. Click here to see the start time in your local area. Why is World IPv6 Day necessary? The address space used by the current version of the Internet protocol, IPv4, is expected to run out in 2011. Without action, we risk increased costs and limited functionality online for Internet users everywhere. The only long-term solution to this problem is adoption of IPv6, which provides over 4 billion times more space. IPv6 is used extensively in many large networks, but it has never been enabled at a global scale. World IPv6 Day will help industry players work together to support the new protocol on an accelerated timeline. With major web companies committing to enable IPv6 on their main websites, there are strong incentives for other industry players to ensure their systems are prepared for the transition.

RedCaster | Real Time News - 7 views

  •
What is Redcaster?Semantic Web The 'Semantic Web' is the concept the Internet is more than just a collection of documents with words in them.  The development of the semantic web consists of efforts to 'understand' what the content is about, and to link it together with related documents. Automatic Categorisation Redcaster provides a system which can automatically identify the higher-level 'meta' categories that the article discusses. Redcaster currently offers two distinct categorisation services: Article categories For instance, an article about Barack Obama and the annual state of the nation address would return the categories 'United States', 'Politics', 'Government'.  These categories do not need to be specifically mentioned in the article for them to be identified.Related categories Redcaster can suggest categories which are closely related to the category in question.  For instance, 'Politics' returns 'United States', 'United Kingdom', 'Government' and more.Learning System Redcaster is not a static knowledge base.  It is a learning system capable of recognising new topics and concepts.  If a new subject or person enters the lexicon, then over time this will become a category which Redcaster will start tagging articles with. Free access Redcaster offers a free account and an easy-to-use interface for news publishers to access.  With this account, publishers can submit either their content directly, or links to published articles.
