THE MISCONCEPTION- Some coincidences are so miraculous, they must have meaning. THE TRUTH- Coincidences are a routine part of life, even the seemingly miraculously ones. Any meaning applied to them comes from your mind.
Apophenia is refusing to believe in clutter and noise, and choosing to believe in coincidence and chance. Apophenia most appears in your life when you experience synchronicity.
It sucks because a lot of people think that they are special in the world, when some crazy things happen. But in reality, it happens to about 16 million other people as well D:
Okay guys so here's what I have so far (just some notes for the PLAN PHASE): -Video: -explaining the topic: Apophenia -examples of us thinking we are special when we're really not -have Tobin animate the examples and then be crushed by the truth -meaning comes from within and this should be our main topic- we all think personal special events are meaningful and great for a reason -we should include a rant at the end, for people who agree or disagree with Apophenia. I will advocate for the people who disagree with the truth and could never live with David McRaney. we could link our video so that people can see my rant about appreciating the little things in life and optimism.
So this idea just came to me!! I think we should continue with the animation theme and make an apophenia fairy who crushes the special-ness out of everything. Just a thought....
