Consistently, researchers have found that when teachers effectively employ feedback procedures, they positively and often powerfully impact the achievement of their students.

Assessment as Feedback by Grant Wiggins Years ago, Thomas Gilbert summed up the principles of good feedback in his delightful and informative book Human Competence. In it, he catalogued the requirements of any information system "designed to give maximum support to performance." The requirements involved eight steps:
