I am going to offer a unit on the Civil War and its impact on World History in my World History class (mostly 10th graders) for the first time. They quit teaching about the Civil War in US History that students take as juniors in our district, and I think they need more than what they got in 7th grade. Just saying! I think this blog I added to my RSS will be a great help.

Peer Mediation is an important and worth while strategy to use in the schools to reduce bullying. Some students do better in dealing with peer mediators. It also is a good way to build leadership skills in the students who are mediators. 

I like this site because it has a nice collection of poetry sites.  Some of the links do not work, but www.poetry180 is a decent collection of poems geared for high school readers.

This site highlights reading reviews categorized by author, new books, coming soon books, series books and books into movies.  This is a terrific resource for kids who need a little help in choosing a new book or genre.  I'll be using this with my MS kids! I also like that it has podcasts of books as well!
