Its fun to imagine cars like this on the streets. When the author says "companies would have to make vast, risky investments in uncertain new technologies" they could do the same with alternate energy such as hydrogen powered cars. Also this article does not really discus the production process of making these cars. Maybe because many of the cars are lighter, there would be less material meaning less carbon emissions as well. It would be interesting to know about the production of the cars as well.
  •
I agree with you Grant; however, I am still a little skeptical on the safety of these super lightweight cars.
  •
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. They talked a bit about how the increased maneuverability makes up for it but I'm not sure I quite buy that.
  •
I'm liking this discussion of the article. Exactly what diigo is for!

Heat Charging Phone - 1 views

  •
This cell phone only needs heat to charge, so it is chargeable in your pocket! No need for plug-in.
  •
Reminds me of an app you can download that tricks users into thinking that leaving their phone in the sun will charge it. Nice to see there is actually a phone now that charges using heat.
  •
Very cool! That's a perfect solution for areas with spotty/no electricity (assuming there IS some sort of signal there).

  •
Researchers at Stanford University have created the first peel-and-stick solar cells. These cells are flexible, can be attached to a variety of surfaces (windows, business cards, clothing), and most importantly they can be produced using conventional, industry-standard facilities and materials. Furthermore, it should be possible to use Stanford's new process to create peel-and-stick computer chips and LCD displays.
