So I've been watching Ben Rimes' posts for DS106 go by and I keep thinking I should give that a try. I was inspired by the Return to the Silent Era assignment, so after watching a couple other people's submissions I figured I'd jump in. One of the things keeping from trying any ds106 assignment before was a lack of expensive software. Ben always uses high end programs like Adobe Premier and Photoshop that I don't have. How could I possibly do any of the cool stuff he does. Well, I decided to see if I could do the whole thing using only my iPad. It also gave me an excuse to buy Avid Studio, an app I've been looking at since it came out. Apps I used: Avid Studio $4.99 - For video editing Blux Movie (free right now) - I shot the movie with Blux. PhotoShop Express and SketchBook Express (free) - To create the placards. I added the text in Avid Studio iSuper8 (free) - Final aging effects added.

The intention of this research was to closely analyze a few scenes from Pixars "Toy Story" to see how they were using the principles of animation. The principles of animation I've listed in this page is not restricted to the ones outlined in "the illusion of life". I went through a few other books and articles to come up with this list of principles an animator has to look out for while animating. So I've included blinks, dialog anticipation/follow-through and some other issues which has to be kept in mind while animating. Also, while analyzing the scenes from "Toy Story" I realized that its not a good idea to try to use all these principles in each and every scene in your animation.

Once you've captured some stellar portraits either in studio or on-location, you're probably going to want to process them in order to bring out the true beauty. Many elements beyond the control of the photographer can interfere with a portrait or distract a viewer unnecessarily, which is why Photoshop is used to salvage and improve many images. Some youth say they feel social pressure to answer each other's text messages regardless of the time of day, and that's causing problems at home and at school. Teachers are concerned about the impact of interruptions on learning, and school administrators are responding with policies on cell phone-use in schools. But how can the education system guide teens through confronting compulsion if students are conditioned to be "on-call"? As a photographer with a new DSLR, you might be trying your hand at video production. Most people completely overlook audio and they shouldn't. If a video sounds cheap then in most people's minds, it is cheap. If you don't have enough money to afford fancy lav mics, don't worry, you can record clean audio with a number of devices that you may already own.
