    Uses of AI in Automation

The use of machines to take over boring, unsafe, and repetitive jobs has been with us for more than a century. There are no horse-and-buggy craftsmen anymore because cars are faster and cheaper than the alternatives. The twenty-first century has ushered in the opportunity to move automation onto the next step of efficiency – Artificial intelligence. Automation and artificial intelligence (AI) are transforming businesses and will contribute to economic growth via contributions to productivity. But before analyzing the contribution of AI to automation it is important to recognize the difference between AI and automation. AI refers to how computer systems can use huge amounts of data to imitate human intelligence and reasoning, allowing the system to learn, predict and recommend what to do next, meanwhile, automated tools require manual configuration and human supervision to effectively execute campaigns. Knowing the differentiating factor between AI and Automation we can now see the advantages AI offers in a much better light as the use of AI essentially means eliminating the human element to near completion. While we believe there will be enough work to go around, society will need to grapple with significant workforce transitions and dislocation. Workers will need to acquire new skills and adapt to the increasingly capable machines alongside them in the workplace. They may have to move from declining occupations to growing and, in some cases, new occupations. After addressing the more significant issue posed by AI in automation, we can move on to its benefits and types in the field.

    Uses of AI in Automation

In essence, automation itself can be classified into four types: numerical control, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), flexible manufacturing systems (FMS), and industrial robots. Numerical control refers to Programmed machine tools that perform repetitive tasks; CAM indicates utilizing computer software to control machinery; Industrial robots can be programmed and manipulated in three or more axes and may operate in fixed or mobile applications, and FMS combines numerical control systems, robots, and other industrial automation tools into one sophisticated system. FMS allows flexibility and customization within its range of uses. In the end, AI is used as an aid to the aforementioned types by improving their efficiency.

    Uses of AI in Automation

More and more industries are now discovering the benefits of AI and the numerous applications it has for insight, increased productivity, and expanded possibilities. An important example of this can be the rapid and extensive use of AI in business. Big data is revolutionizing consumer and product analysis, and AI applications are helping companies sift through tremendous amounts of data to collect insights. Once one AI program has dug through collected information, other AI applications can take this raw data and translate it into actionable findings. Examples may include product perception, social media tendencies, or product behavior over its lifespan. Other AI applications that stand to transform business in coming years include virtual assistants, smart coaches, sales representatives, and robotic journalists that can generate reports and news stories mimicking human writing. Furthermore, AI can also be seen to be used in improving robotics in the industry. The uses for robots exhibiting intelligent behavior are an ever-expanding area of research, with prototypes already showing limited capabilities in problem-solving, learning, and interacting on a social level. Scientific American reported that by 2050, a single robot will be able to perform 100 trillion instructions per second. Though many of today’s uses of robotics center around manufacturing, aerospace design, and military functions, it’s expected that the coming years will see the expansion of robotic technologies into laboratory work, energy, home automation, and mining. Additionally, AI can be seen improving automation in fields like transport with the advent of driverless and self-driving cars; communication, through technologies like autocomplete and auto-generate; Security, via self-configuring alarms and home surveillance systems, and education, with personalized tutor programs and automatically answering chatbots.

    Uses of AI in Automation

In conclusion, While the full implications for widespread integration of automation and AI remain to be seen, we can clearly see that Mass use of AI technology is creating economic prosperity for all through increased productivity in automation.
