The discussion board is a great tool used to increase and ensure class communication and interaction. Among other benefits it provides all students with an opportunity to participate. Traditional classroom discussions very easily change topic without having complete participation from all students. My students would definitely benefit from the discussion board in my classroom. I would first use it by posting open ended questions to our weekly reading. My students are young but it is a great way to promote critical thinking when our basal reader does not.
