  Discussion boards are definitely a powerful online tool that allows students to communicate and reflect on their learning. The biggest impact is hearing from students who are shy and reserved in the classroom; this gives them the opportunity to participate and also allows other extroverted individuals to see points of view from a different perspective other than from the ones that are heard on a daily basis in class.
