Gizmos! Online simulations that power inquiry and understanding. | ExploreLearning - 0 views

This site would be an amazing tool to have in your classroom.  It offers a free trial but does cost an annual fee to have full time.  Gizmos are for 3-12 grade students.  They are interactive lessons that can be used in group instruction, indivdually and/or for homeowork.  The site offers training for teachers, is easy to navigate, implements technology and lines up with most commonly used standards and text books.  Students and teachers get instant feedback on assessment and progress.

  • At our site, we have hundreds of free, online, educational games for kids. But anyone interested in online learning can use our site - we have so many subjects - (geography, math, animals, science) and many levels, games and activities for learners of any age. Over the last year we've had over 20 million visitors and over 5 million hours of learning!

This site offers colorful images, easy navigation, games, quizzes, and articles to read.  It is free! There are ads on this site but you can purchase an ad free version This site is visually appealing toelementary age but has age appropriate content for adults post college. This could be used to reinforce any covered topic during comuter lab or center work. When students are finished with their exercise they have an option to send the results to the teacher.

National Council of Teachers of Mathematics - 2 views

This site seems to offer everything a math teachers could possible need or want. It covers lesson plans, common core standards, technology integration, blogs, prof. development... It covers all ages and grades. The weaknesses I see are it does cost to full access. There is an $84 per year for an individual teacher. There are other options, such a an subscription. It would take a commitment to review and use all of the resources. This would be really great if you are solely a math teacher. For those of us that teach all subjects it would be more difficult to find the time to focus so much on just math. A site that touchs all subjects would be more helpful. I do think this would be beneficial to teachers and students and parents as well.
