Answer Underground is an iOS education app that helps students learn by connecting them with study groups across the country. Teachers are able to create groups for their students to join and can customize the privacy settings for each group. The teacher can then verify the content shared and mark student answers as correct.   Push notifications give students and teachers the ability to see group activity in real time and get instant notifications when questions have been answered. The free app can improve peer communication as students help each other learn. 

ScratchEd is an online community where educators can share, exchange resources, connect, and ask questions.

This is a really fun way to practice search skills.  Google gives you the question of the day, and you are timed to find the answer.  It even tells you the correct steps to search.

Stack Overflow is a helpful repository that's great for answering more advanced questions.
