This online resource base for teachers has been developed by Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester LEAs with funding from the former DfES now the DCSF. EMA Online was launched in 2003 and has been supporting those working with black and other minority ethnic pupils for over five years.
We have collected together different sets of commonly used words and phrases in a variety of different languages. These were originally planned for use in a primary, or secondary school classroom but could be used for lots of other purposes.

9/9/2009 - Amusing collection of photographs of shop signs that use puns. Almost safe for school, depending on parental attitudes to risque phrases, e.g. the opticians called "Spex Appeal".
This simulation involves changing variables by selecting the strength of the water flow into the bath, turning the tap on or off, putting the plug in and out, and telling Archimedes to get in and out of the bath.
It has also been successfully used in Year 6 Science lessons to provide an opportunity to carry out experiments with several variables and interpret the data produced.
19/4/09 - "How to Teach a Child to Argue. Why would any sane parent teach his kids to talk back? Because, this father found, it actually increased family harmony." This could have great application in P4C / thinking skills, or just conflict resolution. Essentially, it focuses on arguments/persuasive rhetoric founded in logic, reputation and emotion.
