Interactive Music Theory Lessons | Resources for Music Education - 0 views

  •
They create teaching resources for music, all with a fun emphasis and which are created and reviewed by the best music educators worldwide. The interactive music theory syllabus is divided into four levels. The cool thing about this is that lesson planning is already done, aural training is included, and games are included to reinforce learning.

A great source for tons of FREE public-domain music for analysis and performance
  •
I really like this website because it's an excellent tool to use when trying to teach about different periods of music and their characteristics. Instead of digging through your music library, you can quickly scan imslp.org to see if a piece of music you'd like to analyze is available. Very awesome tool both as a student and a teacher.

This is also really useful for looking at original scores of early music, to explain the origins of notation and the development of the stave, barlines, etc.

The Norton publishing website is Access protected content (you have to buy their text books to access the material) except for the chapter outlines for the text. The chapter outlines can be accessed by anybody. This is true for their Enjoyment of music text as well as their other texts as well, including 'A History of Western Music' that so many of us remember/fear from our college music history days.

Noteflight is an online music writing application that lets you create, view, print and hear professional quality music notation right in your web browser. I use this with the MYP students with their compositions. It allows you to write up to 10 pieces with a limited set of instruments with the free version. There is a pay version which has many more instruments and an unlimited number of compositions. I like it because our DP program uses Sibelius and it is a good interface to get used to before moving over to Sibelius.

This is primarily what I will be using with my students who will be doing the creating portion of the IA
