I first heard about this from my Eng 150 Librarian, but was reminded of it the other day. If you love to read and are always looking for good books it is awesome! I noticed Professor West even has a link on the class website. Enjoy!
I think there are probably a lot of you that already subscribe, but I've recently joined and I love having a way to keep track of the books I've read. I highly recommend it.
It's a great way for English teachers and students to keep track of the books they've read and be able to remember them. It's also a great way to share what books you've read. You can makes groups and have discussions, too.
Marking places is key to creating a tour in Google Earth. A Google Earth tour consists of numerous locations that are placemarked each with information related to your topic area. These placemarkers are held within a folder for your tour. When your tour is complete you may save that folder as a Google Earth file that ends with the .kmz extension. These files may be posted on a website, emailed or shared with other electronically. When a friend or person who downloaded your tour opens it within Google Earth, they will be able to take part in your virtual tour seeing all your images, reading your information or watching your videos! The nice part is that the process is very easy and straight forward.
I think this is a great resource because it goes right along with what we are learning. It gives a little help on using technology in different settings. Just a fun site-check it out.
I found this useful website that has many links and sources for history teachers trying to incorporate technology into their classes. They seem to provide quite a bit of support. I think I will like this site.
This is a great website for history teachers. It provides a comprehensive guide to teaching history with various types of technology. It includes different links to websites that provide technological lesson plans and activities, most of which I found could be very useful in a history classroom. The site also gives ideas on creating presentations and using multimedia in the classroom. Another great feature the site provides is the ability to discuss and collaborate with other history teachers - it provides blogs, Wikis, and even Google docs.
I forgot to mention why this is so important to me as an educator, but I figured it was pretty obvious--I'm going into language teaching and if I don't maintain my fluency one way or another, my students will get nothing but repetitive and maybe incorrect phrases...short of moving to France for total immersion this is the best way to stay current with the language.
This website is a gold mine of websites and information that is useful for teaching, and the best part is that most of it is based on classroom safe web practices.
This is a great place to find top-notch lectures on various topics. I found this when looking up string theory. They have lecture series as well, and frankly, they're really, really cool.
This could be great for all teachers, I think!
I stumbled on this article and thought it was very interesting. I think it's important to keep these things in mind when bringing technology into the classroom, not to discourage you from doing it, but to help you navigate through the problems that may come from it.
Students make connections with many science concepts and communicate their recommendations to officials and organizations regarding the future of artificial reefs.
I really love this blog site because it is all about teaching those special students in your classrooms whose needs are quickly met, but who get bored easily with the mundaneness of school. This is a big issue I've struggled with myself--trying to keep my gifted students fully active and participating in everything we do--and I have already found several helpful hints on this site. It includes some neat ideas for technology inclusion, as well. The more educated we are about the diversity of our students and their specific needs, the better we can meet those needs and educate our students with a whole range of abilities.
If you need to embed an audio player into your Google website, or other website, this website gives some great and simple methods. This could be useful for posting a podcast on your site.
Great example of what I think is a student video project on the Giver. An example of how video projects can be used to show student understanding of a book's themes.
