  My school did a pilot in the spring of 2009 with the Intel Classmate Convertibles. We've decided to implement them in grades 6 (had been 1-1 with lab and carts of tablets last 2 years) and 7th grade (had had 1-1 since 2003).

  I just bought Lenovo S10e netbooks for two carts. I was surprised that the cost of accidental damage insurance was about the same amount as for a normal laptop, even though the netbook costs a lot less.

  I know what you're talking about. Our no-fault coverage was around $100 a machine for 3 years. Feels high, but it's a great security blanket when something goes wrong!
