Modkit is an in-browser graphical programming environment for microcontrollers. Modkit allows you to program Arduino and Compatible hardware using simple graphical blocks and/or traditional text code. Modkit's graphical blocks are heavily inspired by the Scratch programming environment developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab. Modkit runs in your web browser and requires our Desktop Widget to communicate with your development board. You can use Modkit for free or join our Alpha Club to support Modkit and enjoy additional features before their release to the general public.

The MathCounts Club Program provides enrichment activities and puzzles for 6th-8th grade math clubs within schools - and homeschool groups may join, too! Participants receive a free Club in a Box Resource Kit, which includes the Club Resource Guide, two game boards to accompany one of the meeting plans, 12 MathCounts pencils, and a MathCounts tote bag for the coach.

"The New York State Mathematics Test is administered to eighth grade students in early May. Seventh grade students being considered for placement in an accelerated high school program may also be tested. The purpose of this test is to find out which concepts have been mastered in grades 5-8 and which need further development. This is a timed test that is to be administered under standard conditions. The test will be given on two consecutive days and includes multiple choice questions, short response, and extended response questions. "

What I am writing to others in my school... I am again teaching statistics and would like my students to engage with real data collection and analysis. The Australian Bureau of Statistics runs the Census at School project that allows students to engage with real statistics about themselves and other Australian school students of their own age. I am seeking permission - ongoing permission- for participation in this project to be at the core of our statistics education program for middle school here at Carey Baptist College. You will find the necessary documentation required for us to go ahead.

A new online resource will help teachers identify areas they may choose to focus on as they become familiar with the Australian Curriculum for English, mathematics, science and history. This advisory support resource provides an overview of each Australian Curriculum area and makes clear the key differences between the K-10 Syllabus and the content (descriptions) of the new curriculum.
