How could she have thought that this was a good idea? She said it was just a "simple joke", does she find people who lost their lives or were severely injured funny? I think that this was completely insensitive move on her part, but threatening to rape her and kill her is too extreme. She should know that what she did was offensive, not fear for her life. Threatening her parents is also completely uncalled for, they had nothing to do with her costume. There were many people who dressed in offensive costumes, I saw multiple people dressed as Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman. What she did my be horrible and demeaning, but she doesn't deserve death threats to her family for it.

I believe that everyone has a bias on most issues, whether we know it or not. Though these biases may get in the way of finding the truth, it is the journalists job to put aside their opinions and be objective. Readers have a right to know the facts before they chose a side. If they are told someone else's views on the subject, they may not be educated enough on the issue. If an article is going to feature the writer's opinion, it should be labelled as an opinion piece and not a news article. I agree with Bill Keller, journalism should be impartial.
