Silicon Valley venture capitalist proposes we divide California into six states (Jefferson, North California, Silicon Valley, Central California, West California, and South California), supposedly to bring governments closer to their people.

    What do you think?

I was reminded of this article when I read about San Francisco having the biggest growing income disparity in the USA. From the proposer's Silicon Valley perspective, it seems like an amazing scheme to evict all poor people from the Bay Area and then separate from California as the new state of Silicon Valley to avoid even paying taxes for the Californians they displaced. Capitalism is amazing!

I think that this has been an argument that has been going on for decades, and of course it's never actually going to happen. I think it's an interesting study in how we view other parts of California. We are supposed to be a unified state, but there is a wide variety of stereotypes that people propagate about the other parts of California.

I don't think that anybody would buy the concept of being brought closer to your government, and as far as economic recovery, I think that splitting into six California's would really hurt some regions rather than help the overall California population. That said, Nor Cal by far keeps it the most real.

It's interesting to see how the new regions would be split up. You can really see the differences between the California people and how the state could split up. Obviously, that won't happen, but it's interesting to see.
