This article discusses a homeless woman named Rebecca Chapman who lived in Mill Valley for 36 years, and about two years ago lost her job and home. Her perspective on the people in Mill Valley is intriguing and how she is treated before and after her homelessness is vastly different for her. How do you think the general population of Mill Valley reacts to seeing a homeless woman or any homeless person? What would you do to help if this was someone you knew or even grew up with?

I think people in Mill Valley have very different opinions on homeless people. Some people believe that they shouldn't be here and that it is very unsafe. Other people fell really bad for the homeless and will give them money if they ask. Someone like Rebecca has lived in Mill Valley her whole life and I think that its sad that she lost her job and home. If someone I grew up with fell through like that and wasn't doing very well I would try to help them get back on track and maybe get a job so they could go back to the life they had before.

The thought of having homeless people in Mill Valley is so foreign to most that they are often judged based on stereotypes that may not be accurate. Props for the patch for exploring her situation, and I hope that this is a situation where coverage like this can help this woman out.
