Tunnel boring machine cutters referred to as "TBM Cutters", are excavation tools installed on the cutter heads of tunnel boring machines and shield machines, which include TBM disc cutters (single disc cutter, double disc cutter, twin disc cutter) and soft ground cutters (eg. scrapers, cutting knives, buckets, rippers and other cutting tools). These types of disc cutters and soft rock cutters, in different sizes and specifications, can also be used on MTBM, pipe jacking machines, and other similar rock-breaking equipment.

Single disc cutter, also known as single disk, is a kind of disc cutter with only one cutter ring, which is mounted on the front and gauge area of the cutter head. It is mainly used as face cutter and gauge cutter to break hard rock with high uniaxial compressive strength (UCS≥70Mpa) and mixed ground. It is a key cutting tool for rock excavation.
