Twitter generates almost one in ten Social Media global hits to websites according to web analytics firm, StatCounter. The firm's research arm StatCounter Global Stats reports that Facebook is the primary source of traffic to global websites with almost half (48%) of Social Media hits followed by StumbleUpon with almost a quarter (25%).

Richard has becom one of the world's most in demand speakers on topics around leadership, creativity and harnessing the potential of people. He is an author and frequent contributer to both the national and trade press. He is also a regular on the broadcast media with recent appearances on The Politics Show and on The Today Programme. His passion has and always will be the transformation of education to ensure that it helps our young meet the challenges of their future and to that end the majority of work carried out by the education starnd of IC-ED is with that aim in mind.

"Educational Networking" is the use of social networking technologies for educational purposes. Because the phrase "social networking" can carry some negative connotations for educators, the phrase "educational networking" may be a way of more objectively discussing the pedagogical value of these tools.

Transliteracy is the ability to read, write and interact across a range of platforms, tools and media from signing and orality through handwriting, print, TV, radio and film, to digital social networks.

Tom Barrett: Intersting ways to use.....(technology) in the classroom. Aimed at schools but some intersting ideas

This journal offers an opportunity for those involved in University learning and teaching to disseminate their practice. It aims to publish accounts of scholarly practice that report on small-scale practitioner research and case studies of practice that involve reflection, critique, implications for future practice and are informed by relevant literature, with a focus on enhancement of student learning. This publication thus offers a forum to develop and share scholarly informed practice in Higher Education through either works in progress or more detailed accounts of scholarly practice.

The web2practice guides explain how emergent web technologies like RSS, microblogging, podcasting and social media can enhance your working practice. Each guide consists of a short animated video explaining the key concepts (such as microblogging in the example below), supported by a more in-depth guide covering potential uses, risks and how to get started.

it's a system for almost any metadata to be connected to any Twitter message when it's published. Inside every Tweet is now a space where you could put or find anything, including links out to further instructions or larger bodies of information. That's always been the case with the 140 characters of content - but now we're talking about systematic metadata intended for machines, to augment the content.

What Is An Annotation? Simply, an annotation is some extra data that can be associated with each tweet - data that followers might never see. Each annotation has three fields: a namespace, key and value - and each tweet can have several annotations. The namespace explains what the annotation describes. It could be a book, a meal, a place or pretty much anything. The key and value provide data within the context of the namespace - the author of the book, price of the meal, etc.
