Effective Professional Development: Principles and Beliefs - 0 views

  •
Effective professional development is an essential and indispensable process, without which schools and programs cannot hope to achieve their desired goals for student achievement. SERC's programs and initiatives are built on the belief that the continued growth and ongoing development of professionals and other personnel are both key to the effectiveness of the educational system and critical to retaining the best people in the profession (Fullan & Stiegelbauer, 1991).

Bubble Science - 0 views

  •
There's a fantastic place way up in Vancouver, Canada called Science World. And we heard a rumor that they had the thickest, bounciest bubbles around. So we asked them how they did it. Here are their recipes for bubbles that not only blow up nice and big, but do tricks and experiments! This activity would go with the standard: K.1.1. Use all senses as appropriate to observe, sort and describe objects according to their composition and physical properties, such as size, color and shape. Explain these choices to others and generate questions about the objects.

22 Best Mobile/Tablet Apps for Kids with Special Needs - 0 views

  •
Sometimes it is hard for kids with special needs to use their fingers. Some of these apps discussed on this site help students use their fingers by tracing letters or spelling their name on a tablet. This site offers apps for math, reading, matching, spelling, memory, and more. Special education kids might need a little bit more stimulation during their learning instead of pencil and paper. Touch tablets allow them to stay interested by learning hands-on and seeing rewards visually.

GoNoodle - 0 views

I LOVE this site!!! I believe in standing up and moving between subjects. Kids' brains need breaks to become stimulated and to get oxygen every once in a while. Brain breaks also give students something fun to look forward to after hard work. This site allows teachers to create a playlist of fun brain breaks. These are great to reduce antsy behaviors and to keep kids with special needs in line.
