Midcaps have mobilize while blue chips underperformed sharply, & investors who chose midcaps have made double the returns when compared with that of large caps. The run-up has led to some midcap stocks being overvalued, financial advisors & fund managers said that investors should now turn to large caps.

STOCK MARKET REVIEW: 9TH APRIL 2012 BSE Small-Cap index was down by 0.65% while the BSE Mid-Cap index finished 1.35% down.CNX MIDCAP 50 index was down 1.90% and S&P CNX 500 was down around 1.66%. The SENSEX closed 264 points down at 17,221 and the NIFTY stood at 5234, down by 88 points. BSE SENSEX and NIFTY crashed by 1.51 percent and 1.66 percent respectively on the very opening session of the week after a long weekend. Markets traded more over the global sentiments than to the local ends as lower than expected non-farm and pay roll data presented by U.S worried over the total economy growth. It indicated the lower opening for global markets down by 1-1.5 percent for ASIAN MARKETS. SENSEX and NIFTY hammered down by the banking, metal and capital goods stocks. The Nifty - 50 was at 7,779, up by 47 pts or 0.62 per-cent. It reached a high of 7,792.55 & then a low of 7,768.50 in the early 30 minutes of trade. The 30-share index was trading at 25,645, went up 162 pts or 0.64 per-cent. It reached a high of 25,680.76 and a low of 25,616.33 in morning session. BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.84 per-cent higher & the S&P BSE Midcap Index went up 0.77 %.
