This article describes the challenges that OTs face when treating the whole person in an acute care setting. It is difficult to have other disciplines understand in this setting that mental gains are just as important if not more important to work on in this type of setting. A recent pt had a stroke and was high functioning before...pt had been in inpatient rehab for two weeks and treatment sessions weren't improving d/t mental state. Pt got a decent discharge date and therapy goals were attained in no time!

These are just short little statements regarding the effectiveness that OT has in acute care settings with different diagnoses. Alot of my patient recently have questioned what I can actually help them do in a few short days. This is just a tool I will probably pull out to prove that OT does help!

Now that we have had a chance to experience clinical reasoning and understand how important it is. I found this little PDF file that explains how each type of clinical reasoning goes into the OT process. For example, how procedural reasoning guides treatment however, interactive reasoning guides therapy. Its a really neat clean cut explanation of why it is important to touch on each type of reasoning during the OT process with each client.

This article was beneficial to me concerning an ethical dilemma i experienced recently. The article also goes on to explain other common ethical dilemmas that Level II fieldwork students might experience. It also helps to explain that we can speak up in regards to breaches of code of ethics.

This article was beneficial to me concerning an ethical dilemma i experienced recently. The article also goes on to explain other common ethical dilemmas that Level II fieldwork students might experience. It also helps to explain that we can speak up in regards to breaches of code of ethics.

This article explores four of our Ethicall principles, autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence and justice. When included in the discharge process this article identified that OT practitioners are unintentionally breaching these principles in our code of ethics. The article goes on to clear up that OT's are having to scarifice their ethics to cooperate with a faster discharge date.
