Clinical Reasoning - 1 views

Chapparo, C., & Ranka, J. (2008). Clinical reasoning in occupational therapy. Clinical reasoning in the health professions, 3, 265-277.
The book that I have listed above discusses the topic of clinical reasoning and how it is the foundation of professional clinical practice. It discusses and examines strategies for assisting learners, scholars and clinicians to develop their reasoning expertise. I found it in the Lakewood public library, Amazon, etc. so I'm sure that if you're interested in reading more about clinical reasoning within our profession you could easily access yourself a copy!

As you all know from our class with Jim, evidence-based practice is what is going to keep our profession thriving. I found the link I pasted above that explains what EBP is and how OT's are using it to further the profession. This link also breaks down various topics to choose from that demonstrate EBP within the realm of OT.

Hey everyone!
I found 1 article and 1 link that relates to the topic of supervision.
Article: Supervision, G. Guidelines for Supervision, Roles, and Responsibilities During the Delivery of Occupational Therapy Services.
Link: https://www.aota.org/Education-Careers/Fieldwork/StuSuprvsn.aspx
I found the article to be helpful because it discusses the following: general supervision, supervision of OT's and OTA's, roles/responsibilities of OT's and OTA's during the delivery of OT services, and the supervision of OT aides.
I found the link helpful because it discusses the role of supervision that OT's play with us as students (i.e. For level I's, II's, etc.) and I found this link easy to relate to right now since we're currently going through level II's.

Article: The heart, mind, and soul of professionalism in occupational therapy.
Wood, W. American Journal of Occupational Therapy, Vol 58(3), May-Jun 2004, 249-256. http://dx.doi.org/10.5014/ajot.58.3.249
I have found a very encouraging article in terms of professionalism. I think it is very relatable and applicable to all of us as we graduate, pass our boards, and become entry level therapists. The author of this article really focuses in on promoting professionalism as heart, mind, and soul at both levels; so, that us, as students, do good for ourselves and the world of OT. Wendy Wood also refers a lot to her mentor throughout the article, which I found very relatable, because my mentor at SSU has taught me so much and I will definitely continue to use her words of advice to fuel me toward being the best OT I can be.
Code of Ethics - 2 views

Hey everyone!
I found a Quizlet with the OT code of ethics that I think is very helpful.
Here is the link: https://quizlet.com/4501110/occupational-therapy-code-of-ethics-flash-cards/
For me personally, I think whenever I am trying to study or learn new material, flashcards is the best method of approach. On this website, it allows you to print out the flashcards and physically have them in your hand to study, rather than staring at a computer screen to study the cards... pretty cool! I know that I will definitely be printing out these flashcards to help me study.

This article was written because psychosocial OT is within the top 10 emerging practices according to AOTA. It dives into the psychosocial practice of school-based OT. I found this article to be very interesting, because I do want to work with peds and I know a lot of you guys are interested as well.
