How to Become a Holistic OT - 1 views

  •
This article addresses the importance of incorporating complementary/alternative medicine (CAM), prevention, and wellness approaches into OT practice. Some examples of integrative medicine or holistic therapies include yoga therapy, meditation, and music therapy. I especially liked that this article demonstrated reimbursement for holistic OT treatment. For instance, providing "education in progressive relaxation resulted in decreased physical pain and increased emotional regulation, with reduced worry and anxiety." Of course the intervention and results must be relatable to the client's OT goals and can be billed as a therapeutic activity, neuro re-ed, cognition, or ADL, depending on the focus of the treatment and client's POC.

This article caught my interest because there are many different doctoral options in occupational therapy: OTD or DrOT; DPS; PhD and DSc. Which degree option is right for you? Since I know that we would all love to go back to school after graduation!
