OT's need to focus on occupational performance, and assist client's in becoming actively engaged in their lives. To do this, OT's must involve not only the client, but their family and support system into their rehabilitation. They must work collaboratively with persons in the client's environment to assist them in obtaining skills to make modifications to remove barriers that create a social disadvantage. By doing this we are caused to rethink how we think about OT and take an active role in building healthy communities.
