Ultimately, 112 participants were recruited and focus groups were completed in which different aspects of professionalism were discussed such as interpretation of the word professionalism and indicators of being a professional/unprofessional worker. In general, results demonstrate that that the term professional is different depending on the workplace/ organization and this is a contextual term. What was interesting about this study is that they took time to address professionalism outside of work and the use of social media. I think it is important to realize that professional behavior needs to continue even if you are not in the workplace. Another good point to bring up is how this study addressed how professionalism isn't just about how you act and behave with clients and other healthcare workers. Professionalism is also about your personal attitudes and behaviors such as showing up on time everyday. It is little things like that that add up to being professional in the workplace.
