This article explored if occupational therapy focused specifically on a client's activities of daily living improves recovering following a stroke. The researchers performed a systematic review and meta-analysis using sources such as Cochrane, Medline, CINAHL, Embase, and many more. Results demonstrated that for every 100 people who received occupational therapy services, 11 would be spared a poor outcome. Therefore, the researchers conclude that occupational therapy focused on improving activities of daily living after stroke can improve performance and reduce risk of deterioration in these activities. In their conclusion , the researchers suggest that their findings should move the research agenda away from the questions surrounding whether occupational therapy is effective to the identification of which specific interventions are effective for particular stroke patients.
