In our clinic, at The Center for Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, manual massage is used on every individual who come into their appointment with a pain rating of 1/10+. So that there is no raw skin while performing the massage, a lotion is used called 'free-up'.
This lotion is noted for its glide, lubricity and tissue perception for either surface or deep tissue. It was developed by a PT to meet the needed criteria of a professional's massage medium, great glide, superior tissue perception and slow absorption rate.
If there is individual or business interest in Free-Up, it is known to be cost effective due to its slow absorption rate. Although it is not available over the counter, it can be purchased on Amazon or other health specialty sites. Other attributes include it is hypo-allergenic and bacteriostatic, does not contain beeswax and is scent free. Lastly, it won't ball up or dry out on the skin and it is a non-greasy lotion that will leave hands feeling as though a quality hand cream was used.
