This is a presentation completed by The University of Queesland and is an introduction to evidenced based practice in OT. They define EBP as "The conscientious, explicit, and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients." With EBP, you are incorporating clinical experience, research, and patient values together in order for therapists to stay current and up to date. OT Seeker is a database that provides the abstracts of systematic reviews and RCTs of papers that have already been appraised. Another database used often is Cochrane Library or PubMed. This are tools to help therapists research and locate EBP articles. Also, using critical appraisal worksheets can help to determine of the evidence is important and valid. Once evidence is determined valid, you as a therapist can try and implement it into your practice with clients.Therapists must stay up to date on EBP in order to make clinical decisions and provide effective therapy for clients
