It also provides OTs with helpful information related to where to find evidence-based practice research and how to implement it into our treatment practices. OTs turn to evidence-based practice when gaps of knowledge or uncertainty arises. To simplify a literature review in a particular area, this web source suggests to break initial questions into further components: the client being considered, the treatment being considered, and outcomes of interest you would like to achieve/measure. For example, if a therapist was interested in the effectiveness of cognitive behavior therapy with patients with chronic fatigue syndrome, the question could be phrased: 'Does cognitive behavior therapy (intervention) improve function (outcomes) in adults with chronic fatigue syndrome (client) compared with standard care?' Once formulating an appropriate question to guide search of best practice, this page includes a helpful list of databases, journals, and web sites to visit. These include the Cochrane Library, PEDro, OTseeker, and many more.
