This site is meant to be used as a resource that all of us as members of the Beaver Local Learning Community can use as a professional development tool.  Through the use of video, suggested resources, comments, and reflection this site will allow the district to have a common gathering space with common ideas as we move ahead through the journey of becoming a 21st Century school and moving into our new school in the not to distant future.

Howard Rheingold is a man that people listen to when he talks about the social and political implications of our modern digital media communications and social networking platforms. In this article and accompanying link to a full hour video presentation, he explains the reasoning behind why the five web literacies he profiles here-attention, participation, collaboration, network smarts, and my personal favorite, "crap detection"-are important to our progress as a constantly evolving digital society.
