Road Test: 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK 350 - 0 views

  • Road Test: 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK 350
  • Every car should be this fun to drive. And easy.
  • ing a manumatic (no clutch), the third-generation SLK was easy on my left knee. And with 302 horsepower available from the 3.5-litre V6, my right foot did not need to floor it to reach hair-whipping speeds. The SLK goes from zero to 100 kilometres an hour in a mere 5.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 210 km

  • Inside the roadster, the opulent leather seats are fit for a queen. The adjustable driver's seat provided a soft and comfortable but snug perch behind the adjustable steering wheel. Snug in a good way - the seats envelop you until they feel like part of your body. No matter how fast I drove or how curvy the road was, neither I nor the car experienced the slightest hint of body roll, thanks in large part to the standard Dynamic Handling Package.

Firefox 6 'Released' Two Days Early | News & Opinion | PCMag.com - 1 views

  • Firefox 6 'Released' Two Days Early
  • The official release for Firefox 6 is scheduled for this Tuesday, but Mozilla has already thrown up the installation files on its FTP for industrious and impatient users to download and install
  • A lot of the changes coming in Firefox 6 are under-the-hood fixes designed to increase the speed and compatibility of the browser. For example, Firefox 6 will now speed up its startup time for those with a ton of tabs and groups: Users will be able to decide whether they want to load up all of their tab groups at the browser's launch, or load these tabs up within the browser's Panorama grouping tool.

  • The final "big change" that non-developer Firefox users will notice is Mozilla's new treatment of domain names within the browser's address bar. Domain names are now tinted with a small highlight, just to make it easier for users to tell what site they're on after a quick glance at the address bar
  • Other improvements to Firefox 6 include a performance boost for Linux users, as well as increased support for developers in the form of a Scratchpad tool for testing JavaScript within the browser and an improved version of the browser's Web Console

Mozilla Firefox 6, what people are saying - Tech Talk - CBS News - 0 views

  • It seems like just weeks ago we were updating to Firefox 5... Yup, that was just weeks ago
  • Now with Firefox 6, we're provided with a straightforward collection of security updates and tweaks.
  • "more substantial improvements" will come with Firefox 7, including a new JavaScript engine that "uses much less memory."
  • ...7 more annotations...
  • Because Firefox 6 is not a major overhaul, the reviews are sparse, but people are still expressing their opinions.
  • Firefox 6 for desktops and laptops contains a number of important stability fixes, as well as some feature improvements, most of which are aimed at developers. There's a new Web Developer menu in Firefox 6, which collates tools for building and debugging Web sites into one location
  • Scratchpad tool, which browsers like Opera and Chrome have had for some time. It allows developers to test JavaScript before implementing it. The web console feature also has a new auto-complete option and can have its location customized
  • 10 major security fixes, including "a WebGL crash, a JavaScript crash, a crash in the Ogg reader, memory safety issues and unsigned scripts. These all affected Firefox 4 and 5.
  • Congrats to Mozilla on shipping Firefox 6
  • Firefox 6 highlights for me: server sent events, web sockets (albeit vendor prefixed) and dataList support."
  • yay, Firefox 6 supports the latest Websocket spec, and finally added eventsource support - long overdue! downloading.
