    "For over a year now, London has been a simmering site of dormant musical gatherings and suspended physical proximities, prompting me to wonder what's happened to the visceral, tactile energies through which collective musical formations gain so much of their social and emotional force. As Ben Assiter points out, the migration of electronic dance music online during the pandemic accelerated currents that were already underway with the ubiquity of livestream platforms like Boiler Room. With physical assembly prohibited, the dematerialization of collective musical experience gave rise to a whole new level of face-to-screen "participation," as solitary DJs began broadcasting live from empty clubs to bedroom audiences, who in turn performed "ironic dance floor interaction[s]" in the chat boxes."

    ""The Ears Between Worlds Are Always Speaking is a long-form, 2 channel hyper-directional 4 act opera projected upon the ancient ruins of Aristotle's Lyceum. For this work there is no physical intervention onto the site, with the exception of sound produced by 2 LRADs - LONG RANGE ACOUSTIC DEVICES - that are mounted on rooftops around the campus periphery. At the installation, audiences experience a shifting call and response hyper-directionality of sound when walking around the ruins of the school. The Lyceum, situated between the Athens War Museum, Hellenic Armed Forces Officer's Club, and Athens Conservatory of music, offers a rich environment for engaging oral tradition, contemporary and ancient history, as well as a sense of embodied learning."

    "krewe coumbite is an archive and remix process conducted by muthi reed. reed gathers and assembles media through sharing, relationship, deconstruction, making, sampling and mixing. Central to their process is the observance of Black sound, rituals and feelings. krewe coumbite is a study in dynamic being-ness (finesse, shape, free form and movement, ontology, ritual, vernacular) that is Blackness. Borrowing from the Black love strategies cultivated by maroons, rastas, social aid and pleasure clubs, mutual aid societies, movement organizers, the Black Arts Movement, Harlem Renaissance, urban rebels/rebellions of the 1960s, Jamaican Sound System, freestyle and hip hop culture of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, krewe coumbite engages local presence and the non conditions of space through occupying publics, interior time, light and sound projections, convergence and soul culture."
